Front-Surface Mirror
Clear reflection without distracting double images
Surface Mirrors, also known as front-surface mirrors, have their reflective coating applied to the side facing the incident light. As a result, the light is reflected directly off the mirror’s surface without first passing through the glass substrate.
This helps prevent unwanted ghosting and double images, which can occur with back-coated mirrors. Surface mirrors are therefore particularly well-suited for applications requiring clear and precise deflection of light or radiation.
Schröder Spezialglas stocks surface-coated mirrors and fabricates them into the required shapes according to customer-specific requirements.
Front-Surface Mirrors differ from conventional mirrors in that they have a reflective coating applied to their front surface. Light is reflected directly off the surface, which reduces distracting ghosting and double images.
As a result, surface mirrors are particularly well-suited for applications that require precise deflection of light or radiation. Schröder Spezialglas assembles stock surface mirrors according to individual requirements and uses them to manufacture custom components.
Furthermore, laser processing can be used to partially remove mirror coatings, allowing for the creation of specific transparent or uncoated areas within a component.
For decades, Schröder Spezialglas has been supporting customers in industry, research, and development in the implementation of technical glass solutions. From the initial idea through prototyping to mass production, we combine expertise in materials with modern manufacturing processes and documented quality procedures.
