Sight glasses allow for visual monitoring of operations within closed technical systems. They provide insight into processes, fill levels, or operating conditions without having to open machines, containers, or equipment.

Depending on their application, the sight glasses must withstand various thermal, chemical, and mechanical stresses. The material, dimensions, and design are therefore tailored to the specific operating conditions and installation situation.

Sight glasses are required in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. In addition to classic round designs, Schröder Spezialglas also manufactures rectangular and custom geometries. Depending on the requirements, the company can provide drilled holes, cutouts, machined edges, or special surface finishes.

Borosilicate glass is used in many applications because it combines good thermal and chemical resistance with high transparency. Depending on the operating conditions, other types of technical glass and specialty materials may also be suitable. Key factors include temperature, the medium, mechanical stress, and the installation configuration.

Schröder Spezialglas manufactures sight glasses according to drawings and technical specifications, as well as designs in accordance with DIN 7080, DIN 7081, and DIN 8902. In addition to standard dimensions, custom sizes are available - up to approximately Ø 600 mm with a material thickness of 55 mm, according to customer specifications.
