Surface Finishing
Functional Surfaces for Custom Needs
Through targeted surface treatments, the properties of technical glass components can be tailored to their intended function and operating environment. Depending on the application, the focus may be on optical, electrical, or dirt-repellent properties, for example.
Schröder Spezialglas offers a variety of solutions for functional surfaces and tailors the coating, material, and component geometry to the respective technical requirements.
Surface treatments enhance the properties of a glass component without altering its basic geometry. Schröder Spezialglas offers, among other things , anti-reflective coatings, electrically conductive coatings, and hydrophobic and oleophobic surfaces for this purpose.
Anti-reflective coatings can reduce distracting reflections, thereby improving visibility or readability. Electrically conductive coatings such as ITO (indium tin oxide) enable transparent, conductive surfaces and are suitable for corresponding technical and electronic functions.
Hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings reduce the wetting or adhesion of water, oils, and contaminants, thereby making it easier to clean glass surfaces. The appropriate coating is determined based on the material, the desired function, and the intended use.
For decades, Schröder Spezialglas has been supporting customers in industry, research, and development in the implementation of technical glass solutions. From the initial idea through prototyping to mass production, we combine expertise in materials with modern manufacturing processes and documented quality procedures.
